Leadership Lessons We’ve All Learned Before

04 May Leadership Lessons We’ve All Learned Before

Some of the Elite Solutions team members recall the poster titled “Everything I Needed to Know I Learned in Kindergarten.” It’s a whimsical list of basic manners and life skills that, for the most part, everyone has known since they were small children. (The poster was so popular it inspired the author, Robert Fulghum, to write a whole book.)

Well, we happen to think that much of the wisdom contained in that poster also applies to leadership. For example, Elite Solutions leaders believe, “Please,” and, “Thank you,” are two of the most powerful tools that anyone can use to motivate and inspire.

Also, allowing others to finish what they are saying without interrupting them is a fundamental skill that most of us were taught as children, but somehow forgot on the way to adulthood. We believe that it’s done out of excitement, but it’s still impolite.

Being helpful may seem counterintuitive to some in corporate America, but Elite Solutions associates believe it’s one of the fundamentals of a great culture. The leaders we respect the most are those who will do whatever it takes to help their team members succeed, which in turn makes their crews want to work harder for them. Everyone benefits from an environment designed to promote personal and professional growth.
